By Hubschrauber
Other reviewers have given this product bad ratings based on expectations that would only be reasonable for the $200+ version of this product. Bottom line is that it functions just fine in its intended use. This review addresses some of the complaints and I hope it will provide a practical basis for deciding whether this is the right product for you.
1) Brightness. Any laser that has an output power > 5mW presents an increased risk of injury to your eyes. Products like this are limited to 5mW, which limits the brightness of the dot produced on the target by the laser. As such, this, or any similar product for that matter, should NOT be expected to produce a clearly visible dot on a target in bright sunlight. It should also NOT be expected to produce a clearly visible dot on a darker colored (e.g. black) target.
2) Accuracy. This product is intended to help you get a sight or scope close enough to hit a paper target. It should NOT be expected to zero in a scope at 400 yards in a single step. The process of zeroing a scope is more than one step. This product shortcuts the first step, which is getting the shot somewhere on the paper target at a shorter distance (like 25 or 50 yards, depending upon the size of the paper target). THEN after a few shots and corrections at that range to center the sight, it takes a few more shots and corrections at a longer distance to center it better. Comparing the zeroed sight again to the laser may reveal that the laser is not aligned very well at all at longer ranges, but expecting it to be is really NOT reasonable for this price product.
3) Battery Life. This product is designed to be used for only a few minutes at the beginning of the zeroing process. The stated battery life in the instructions is 1 hour. If it is accidentally left on for 30+ minutes, the battery probably won't have enough juice to produce its brightest dot until the batteries are replaced. Also, the button-cell batteries used in this type of product DON'T have an infinite shelf life. If you're lucky, the batteries that come with it are reasonably fresh, but they may have been sitting around in a hot warehouse for a while. Most button-cell batteries are NOT expensive. A 10-pack of batteries is typically around $5, so save some frustration and just order a pack of batteries as soon as you know the exact size the product uses. (Note: There are several models which probably use different size batteries, so I'm not including that info here.) Also, remember to turn the thing off immediately after you're done using it to get a shot on the paper target!!
4) Fit. If you get the wrong size (by ordering the wrong thing or just by accident) DON'T TRY TO USE IT. If the casing is dented or bent, DON'T TRY TO USE IT. If the chamber of your firearm is dirty, CLEAN IT FIRST. The models of this laser-boresight product are made in the same dimensions of the shell casing that fits in the chamber of the specified firearm type(s). If you have a dial caliper, you could measure the casing of the laser and compare it against an actual round for the firearm BEFORE inserting the laser in the chamber. If you don't have a dial caliper and you're nervous that the laser might get stuck, buy a cheap ($20) dial caliper from Amazon (or locally in some areas at a Harbor Freight) and wait until you can verify that you have the correct size laser for the chamber of your firearm. If you have the correct, undamaged model for your firearm, it should fit snugly into the chamber, but should NOT be any more difficult to extract than an actual round of ammo for the gun.
Tips:
* If the model you get is pin-switch activated, don't trust that as an on/off switch when the item is stored. Remove the batteries and keep everything together in a ziploc bag.
* Pick a time later in the evening, or pick an overcast day, or enclose your paper target in a shadow box when using this product. The laser dot is much easier to see when there is less ambient light on the target competing with the brightness of the laser dot.
* Use a white or light colored target paper with a rough (non-glossy) surface. The laser dot is actually harder to see on targets printed on glossy paper.

FIREFIELD AK47/SKS 7.62X39MM CHAMBER BORE SIGHT - A purchase worth the money. Arrived in time for deer season, and helped zero my nephew's SKS in less than ten minutes just firing three rounds. (Nephew didn't get a deer this year, but that's because he is a noisy stalker, and not because his rifle's scope is off.)
Be gentle with the unit. Try not to let it fall onto the floor after being extracted. My pal that recommended me getting one, busted his after it hit hard enough to bounce on concrete. It never worked again. I keep both my 7.62x39mm bore sight, and my .308 bore sight, in a hard, plastic lure case. Always store it WITHOUT the batteries in it. Safe & happy shootin' to you, I hope this helps ya'll out.

This Firefield 7.62x39MM bore sight gets the job done right. Let's start with the outside- the color. The bright red color makes it easy to locate- whether it's in a bag or a rifle case. The gold colored battery cap screws on/off with ease. As mentioned in the description, it comes with 2 batteries to get you sighted right out of the box. There is no on/off switch, so slide this puppy in the chamber and aim. It is really simple using the iron sights on a stock AK-47. (I live inside the city, so I used the Firefield to sight my rifle while indoors. I took it out to shoot 2 weeks later, and it was zeroed in on everything we shot.)
Just pull back the bolt carrier and aim the rifle upwards and the bore sight will slide out. Be ready to catch it! lol.
As ammo prices have increased lately, I felt this was a good investment for future use. If you shoot frequently, this could save you lots of time and money getting your rifle zeroed in correctly.
