It seems that there are a few prior versions of this laser which did not fare as well and many gave it poor reviews. Having installed and used this laser, I can say that the shortcomings of prior iterations of this device have been addressed, all for the better.
It fits very snugly on a Glock 19, where you'll actually need to apply some strong pressure to slide it into place. Makes me wonder if it will be an issue to remove it.
There are two removable sections on the front, an outer cap and a front assembly which exposes the elevation/windage adjustments. Both are made with metal threads, so no weak plastic parts to strip. The device in general feels robust and solid. The only part which is less than ideal is the sliding on/off switch. It's not weak and flimsy, but does have some play in it. I tested the switch relentlessly and it works just fine, and for a right-handed user, it's very easy to turn the unit on with your trigger finger fully extended outside of the trigger guard. Turning it off requires the use of your other hand to slide it back.
The laser beam is really bright, even with the supplied (no name brand) CR2 lithium battery. At night you can see the beam trailing away from you and is almost too bright if you shine it on an object close to you. In daylight, the green dot is highly visible in the shadows. In direct sunlight the dot is definitely visible but an observer (not doing the aiming), may struggle to find the dot right away. As long as I aimed it, I could see the dot without delay. In short, it's bright and blows away a red laser.
On my G19, the unit extends past the muzzle opening by about .75". I'd prefer to have one that was more discreet, but not willing to spend hundreds for this. For me, this laser is really about training/practice, so hope to remove it once my aim gets good enough. I had to buy a new holster to facilitate the firearm with the laser, but OK with me as my current holster is less than ideal.
I have not run off hundreds of rounds with it, so don't have any input in this regard. There is a caveat in the manual that it will only operate between 59 and 95 degrees F. I believe this is a shortcoming of the frequency of green lasers in general and not just the NcStar. Overall, I'm happy with this unit and the price is fantastic. I recommend it to anyone wanting a budget green (or any color) laser.

After reading some of the reviews on this laser I was hesitant on ordering it, but I did.And after installing it on my Taurus pt840 I love the thing. It is very compact and looks great not to mention it shines out of this world in the night time at least 300 yards. In the day time its very visible at 50 or 60 yards easy.Very easy to zero in and handels recoil very well.I read in some other reviews that it was hard to install on there rails. Some said they had to knock it on.But I had no problem with that I just removed the front part of the laser and pressed real hard and it snapped into place.Very snug wont move around on you.I also had no problem takeing it on and off the gun. Fits a weaver rail on the new Taurus 800 series guns perfect. So if your looking or a great laser that does what its suppost to try this you wont be sorry.

Very well made, with no plastic parts. A perfect fit on my Ruger SR9 rail. The laser does extend 1/2 inch past the end of the barrel, but for the price it's no issue. This green laser is twice as bright as any red laser. For the money, it can't be beat.
